Frank Mann vase in an unusual form that suggests the human figure.  This corseted stoneware has an impressed upper section, intentionally created by the artist to add visual interest to the piece.  Mann was a mid-century modernist studio potter from Vermont.  He participated in the Ceramic National exhibitions at Syracuse University during the 40's, 50's, and 60's.  This piece shows off one of his quintessential "peppered" glazes.  No chips, cracks, or repairs.  One small area of discoloration near the base, seems to be iron oxide from the firing process.  8-1/2" high by 4-1/2" at the widest.  Signed "mann" on the base.  Please ask all questions prior to purchase.  We will be happy to send additional photos.  William Jeffrey Gallery
