You are looking at a brand new Steel Breakaway Cable, complete with plastic coating and breakaway bracket. It is a legal requirement for all braked trailers, caravans and horseboxes to have fitted a cable such as this. Should the trailer or caravan become detached from the vehicle, the Breakaway Cable will activate the trailer’s brakes, bringing it to a stop. The breakaway bracket is a legal requirement. It is designed to be fastened to the towball bolt to allow the breakaway cable to be fitted to the towcar without being attached directly to the towball itself as breakaway cables are not allowed to be directly connected to the towball.
