Glutamine or L-glutamine is an important amino acid as it serves as a foundation for building proteins that lay down the tissue cells in the body. Glutamine comprises of about 60% of the free amino acids present in the body. The amino acids are coded in the body through the 3-nitrogen bases known as ?? codons. Glutamine carries the Cytosine-Adenine-Adenine or CAA and Cytosine-Adenine-Guanine or CAG codons.
Glutamine is available in a variety of foods produced such as poultry, beef, organ meats, green leafy veggies, pork, beans and legumes. Vegetarian sources have lower amounts of Glucosamine than its meat counterparts.
The production of Glutamine in the body is a side effect brought about by the removal of the ammonia in the body. When ammonia and glutamate combines, Glutamine is formed. As our body requires energy, it burns glucose; however if glucose is in short supply it uses the Glutamine as a secondary source of energy. That said, it takes away the body??s ability to generate new tissues. Glutamine targets fast dividing cells; examples include muscle cells, red blood cells and hair follicles. The use of Glutamine is recommended for individuals who are recovering from surgery, injury or infection. For best results, include the glutamine powder in your favorite shake.
Please note that this product does not include a scoop or measure; we recommend that you use digital scales accurate to 0.01g. If you do not have scales available, one serving of our Glutamine powder roughly equates to one 1/2 teaspoon.
