Few plants offer such riches as the Soft Tree Fern -
Dicksonia antartica. It somehow combines the filigree elegance of a fern
with the size and presence of a tree and lends an air of the primordial
forest wherever it is planted. Seen in silhouette, from above or
beneath, it stops you dead in your tracks and takes your breath away.
Dicksonia antarctica has proved to be the easiest of the treeferns to
cultivate - plenty of water to keep the trunk moist being the most
important thereafter a position out of the wind and dappled shade will
help keep it looking tiptop.
