Original antique lithographed map of Baltimore, printed in 1887.

  • The map is colored by ward and has fine detail, with street names and the locations of public buildings and railroad lines.

  • The image area measures 23.7 x 28.2 cm [9¼" x 11"], and the coverage area extends from Baker Street to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Coal Depot on the northwest branch of the Patapsco River.

  • It labels the Green Mount Cemetery — where three of the Lincoln assassination conspirators, including John Wilkes Booth, are buried, and it locates St. Mary's College, the first Catholic seminary in the United States, and the Camden Street Station, today the site of the Oriole Park baseball stadium.

  • Among the other named places and features shown on the map are Cathedral Cemetery, Washington Monument, Phoenix Shot Tower, the Susquehanna Railroad, City Jail, Odd Fellows Hall, City Wharves, Mt. Clare Station, and Exchange Place.

  • This map was drawn and engraved by W.H. Gamble and published by William M. Bradley & Bros., successors to S. Augustus Mitchell, Jr., Philadelphia. It is dated 1887 in the lower margin.

  • Condition:  It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with wide margins and no marks, rips, or tears. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.

  • It is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine.

  • It would make a handsome display in your den or office. It would also make a perfect gift, and we'll include our helpful framing tips for your reference.

  • It was published by one of the leading American cartographic publishing firms in the mid-19th century, and it provides an excellent view of the city of Baltimore twenty-two years after the Civil War.
