The Radaelli Saber is a high performance weapon approved for all forms of competition and combat. It features an exceptionally strong guard, fully-ridged and with the classic reinforcing ring common to the Radaelli style. The high-carbon steel blade by Paul Chen and Hanwei is very flexible along last third of blade towards the tip, but stronger, thicker, and more rigid as it tapers toward the hilt. Notice the ridged shape of the blade "D" shape for lower 2/3 toward the pommel.

One of the rapidly growing disciplines within historical fighting societies is that of fencing in the Italian style, originating with fencing masters who were employed to train officers and mounted troops in the effective use of the military sabre. The Milanese fencing master Guiseppe Radaelli, is credited with starting the development of this style, while Salvatore Pecoraro introduced changes and refinements which resulted in the technique finally adopted for sabre at the Military Masters School in Rome. The hilt designs developed by Radaelli and Pecoraro have been reproduced in the Hanwei fencing sabers, with stainless steel guards and wire-wrapped sharkskin-pattern grips. The high-carbon flex-tempered steel blades closely follow the proportions of the period and are button-tipped for safety. Replacement blades are also available (OH2264)

Comments: This is the blade of choice at rapier practice with local HEMA group and what I use myself -  top of the line, outstanding quality, highly recommended. Excellent balance, equally effective for cutting or thrusting. Made of high quality spring steel for strength and flexibility, the Pecoraro & Radaelli are lighter, faster, and every bit as strong as traditional designs like Hanwei schlager and Darkwood Armory rapiers. And if aesthetics matter to you, as they obviously did to our progenitors, this is a beautiful rapier, perfectly combining function and form!
