Large original oil painting on canvas by Pal Fried "Ballerina" in good condition. Cracking paint with few chips missing, small damage from nail, see photos. Overall impressive looking piece.

Pal Fried was born June 16, 1893, Budapest, Hungary, and died March 6, 1976, New York City, NY.
He studied at the Hungarian Academy under the instruction of Hugo Pohl and in Paris under Claude Monet and Lucien Simone. He was also heavily influenced by the French impressionist school of Renoir and Degas. He excelled in portraits of high society Parisian women, ballerinas, nudes, Oriental and western scenes, seascapes, primary working with oil and pastels, experimenting with light and movement in his work. In 1947 he moved to United States where he taught in New York at the Academy of Art. Later in 1950s and 1960s worked in Hollywood, painting portraits of high-prolific celebrities including the Gabor sisters and Marilynn Monroe. Pal Fried was a highly prolific artist and his career spanned more than five decades.
