BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) was a British airline owned by the British government. It was founded in 1939 after the merger of Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd. During WWII BOAC kept Britain connected with its colonies and the allied world. The airline travelled around the world to many destinations, the first flight to Hong Kong was carried out in 1936.The airline was operative and traveling overseas until 1974, after being merged with BEA (British European Airways) which evolved into today’s British Airways.

Arnold Fujita (1926-2012) designed this poster for the promotion of Hong Kong. The circle in the image contains a beautiful gold Chinese dragon placed against an intense red background that gives a very balanced contrast. The letters are very clear and sharp, which makes the viewer focus on the image in the circle.
