MILLE GRAECORUM SUB CYRO PIERRE DUVAL c 1670 Offered is an original superb and rare antique map of Asia
Minor through to Armenia and Babylon including Cyprus, c. 1670. This historical
map illustrates the region involved in the conquest of Cyrus the Great (558-528
BC), the founder of the Persian Empire under the Achaemenid dynasty. Three
superb cartouches featuring putti adorn the map, which was compiled and drawn
by Pierre DuVal for Jansson's historical atlas. The map is a hand colored copper
engraving. Paper size is 51.5 cm X 60 cm (20.3 in. X 23.6 in.),
image size is 41.5 cm X 49 cm (16.3 in. X 19.3 in.). The map is in very good condition for its age with
some browning and mirror foxing spots on the margins (pictured). It is taped in
the middle of the back for reinforcement (pictured). The map was previously
folded in two with a resulting crease in the middle. It will be shipped rolled
