Tested 100%

The item you are purchasing is inspected and tested before they are shipped to make absolutely sure everything is working 100%

Time is taken to check new product when it arrives from Takamine; electronic components pass through another more thorough audio and electronics test before being packaged and shipped.

The vintage preamps and used components sold by AddictedToToneInc pass through this same testing process.

Non electronic parts like Tuners, Nuts, Saddles are carefully inspected and tested; any part that requires assembly is assembled.

Many sellers do not possess a working knowledge of the Takamine equipment they are selling and simply send merchandise without examining the item being sold.

As a guitarist, artist and former touring musician I understand how important this equipment is to the individual purchasing it; most of my customers are casual players but for some of my clients the part being purchased is needed for work and making a livelihood - an extended downtime can make for some potentially hungry days!

My endeavors are not approached as a mere "numbers game" or how many boxes of product I can move, for me it is much more personal, most of my clients work very hard for their money; I appreciate and respect the fact they have chosen me to do business with.

Takamine does a fabulous job with their electronics and there are very few incidents of manufacturer defect; very, very few incidents but it does happen.

It is much easier for me to check the product for the customer before it is sent rather than wasting time discovering a defective part after it has shipped; this is how I have always operated; it takes more of a commitment but my clients appreciate it – they know they can trust me to do the job right!

The testing process was originally started for the sake of my over-seas patrons but I quickly realized the value of it for all my clients!

Maybe I am just "old school" but this is the way I feel it should be done.

I have designed, created and employ special testing equipment for the Takamine preamps and electronic componentsbecause it is your reputation as well as mine at stake when you walk on stage!

AddictedToToneInc hosts a special Facebook page that specializes in the science and use of the Takamine technology exclusively for our Takamine clients.

Thank you,

RETURNS & SHIPPING

AddictedToToneInc does not accept returns.

The item listed in this ad is designed to improve the tone

of your Takamine guitar or for replacing a defective component.

I can help you diagnose the problem with your Takamine system.

Please contact me before you order an item you do not actually need.

AddictedToToneInc does not accept returns because of a third parties ineptitude,

specifically “repair technicians” that do not know how to properly diagnose

possible defects of the individual components used in the Takamine electronic system.

AddictedToToneInc checks each component for possible electronic defect

when the new product is received from Takamine and

verifies its working condition once again before it is shipped.

 FAQ’s

Here are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions

regarding Takamine Output Jack Assemblies

G Series Jack

Question: How can I tell the difference between the Takamine G Series Jack and the Takamine Pro Series Jack?

Answer: Look closely at the flange of the end pin Jack; the Pro Series Jack is stamped “Takamine” signifying it is OEM Takamine part from Japan but the G Series is not.

Other external differences include the thicker “lip” of the 1/4” jack opening of the Pro Series: 1/8” versus the thinner 1/16” of the G Series .

Takamine Pro Series Output Jack Assemblies use a well shielded, low capacitance, high resolution wire such as Canare or Onamba that has been ohmage and resistance matched to the electronics of the Takamine preamp.

This high quality cable works with the Takamine Pro Series preamp most efficiantly and is nearly acoustically transparent.

The Takamine Pro Series UpGraded Heavy Duty 1/4” Flanged Jack offers the sturdiest internal connecting components available.

While it is still possible to negatively impact the function of the jack by accidentally applying to much *side to side pressure to the guitar cables 1/4” plug; the Pro Series takes a lot more abuse than the light/medium duty G Series output jack.

*Hitting or tripping over the guitar cable while it is plugged into the output jack assembly is the leading cause of output jack failure.

The Pro Series Jack Assembly can also be used with Takamine G Series Instruments.

G Series Output Jacks are not made with this type of wire nor is the jack as robust as what the Pro Series offers; the G Series Output Jack is very nice for its price point.

~

Question: Will the Takamine G Series Jack work with my Takamine Pro Series guitar?

Answer: Yes, but not as efficiently as the Takamine Pro Series Output Jack.

The wiring of the Pro Series Output Jack assembly Assemblies uses a well shielded, low capacitance, high resolution wire such as Canare or Onamba that has been ohmage and resistance matched to the electronics of the Takamine Pro Series preamp.

This high quality cable works with the Takamine Pro Series preamp most efficiantly and is nearly acoustically transparent.

~

Question: My friend replaced the output jack in my Takamine and now my preamp doesn't work right, he said he matched all of the wires how come it won’t work?

Answer: The Takamine Output Jack is propietary, although other brands of aftermarket output jacks may look the same on the outside the internal connections do not always match what is required for the Takamine system to function properely. The use of a non-Takamine part on a G Series or Pro Series Takamine instrument will void the Takamine electronics warranty

Pro Series 3 Pin Upgraded Jack

Question: How can I tell the difference between the Takamine Pro Series “3-P” Jack and the Takamine Pro Series  “4-P” Jack?

Answer: Look closely at the flange of the end pin Jack – The Pro Series Jack is stamped “Takamine” signifying it is OEM Takamine part but the G Series is not.

~

Pro Series 4 Pin Upgraded Jack

Question: Do you think I need the 4 pin upgrade jack now or when I upgrade my preamp?

Answer: Realistically you only need the 4 pin upgraded jack when and if you ever start using the Takamine Acoustic DI box – the 4th pin is for the Phantom Power feature only.

~

Question:  How do you tell the hot wire apart from the ground wire?

Answer: Hot wire is on the inside, ground wire "surrounds" it - which also helps deflect noise...

~

Question: Is the shape of the 4 Pin Upgrade Jack the same as the “old style” three pin Takamine jack?

Answer: They are almost exactly the same. I say almost because the three screw holes are ever so slightly different in their placement. When you place the new 4 pin jack into the guitar you will see only about half of the previous screw hole. You can either put the screws back in at a slight angle or spin the new jack a little bit and start new holes.

~

Question: Will the 4-pin upgrade still work with older (1995 and older) Takamine guitars (pro series not 'G' models) with the original older style preamps without being connected to the Takamine Acoustic DI box and/or without the CTP-2 Preamp?

Answer: Yes, The 4 pin upgraded jack will work for those guitars. The 4 pin upgrade jack is electronically compatible with all the Takamine style guitars.

~

Question: Where do I get the upgraded 4pin jack?

Answer: You can purchase one from me - just go to the addictedtotoneinc ebay store or conatct me via the Mr. Takamine USA facebook page.

~

Question: The Upgraded "4-pin" jack appears to be wired to the cable exactly the same as the old 1990 vintage jack that we are removing and replacing. Is that correct? I'm not clear on what the difference is and how the phantom power from the Takamine Acoustic DI + is going to function any differently than with the old vintage style jack I already have.

Answer: Yes, they do appear nearly the same on the outside as the old jack but contained inside the upgraded jack the pins are arranged differently to supply the phantom power. When I get a chance I am going to cut the two jack styles in half so people can more easily understand the difference.

~

Question: Would the 4 pin jack enable my CTP-2 Preamp to be powered by a harmony machine that provided phantom and not need batteries?

Answer: Here's the response I got from Mike @ Takamine: The CTP preamps will not work with standard phantom power. The issue is not voltage, it is current. Standard phantom does not supply enough current to power the tube properly. That is why we developed the DI+ to provide a dedicated power supply. Mike

~

Question: Does the 4 Pin Upgrade Jack for CTP-2 work with a normal passive DI and/or other brands of Direct Boxes other than Takamine?

Answer: Yes, they will work perfectly BUT you will not be able to take advantage of the phantom power that the Takamine DI provides to power the CTP-2, you will have to continue to use batteries to operate the CTP-2.

I would like to offer two additional remarks about the Takamine DI box –

1) I have heard DI’s that sound as good but not better and they are nearly double the price.

2) The CTP-2 is a very advanced circuit that does tend to use a lot of battery energy, the cost of battery savings alone makes the Takamine Acoustic DI a great choice. It sounds and looks fantastic and of course tone is the main factor to an acoustic artist.

SIDE NOTE: The Takamine Acoustic DI box is terrific for bass guitar!
