This fine documentary tells the fascinating story of the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad, one of America's premiere regional rail systems.

Once perilously close to abandonment, this New Jersey shortline was purchased by the Delaware Otsego System and extensively rebuilt to permit operation of Sea-Land double stack trains between Binghamton, NY and Little Ferry, NJ.

The program opens with a detailed history of the railroad which includes rare archival film footage of Susquehanna steam, early diesels, RDCs, the stainless steel coaches, and even the unusual - and fire-prone - ACF railcars!

Next, a tour of all Delaware Otsego lines is presented, featuring Staten Island Rapid Transit, Rahway Valley, Lackawaxen & Stourbridge, and the Northern Division routes from Binghamton to Utica and Jamesville. You'll also follow freight from Little Ferry to Sparta Jct., and chase stack trains from Binghamton to Little Ferry, with many scenes featuring snow cover and brilliant blue skies. The inaugural run of the Susquehanna's new B-40-8 diesels concludes this definitive tribute to the "Susie Q"!
