MAX PIGMENT PASTE BLUE
8 Fluid Ounces Concentrated Paste For Epoxy

MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE are concentrated color additives used to tint and color epoxy resin systems.
It is a highly concentrated paste that exhibits strong color saturation and excellent color fastness
It is comprised of high-quality powder color pigments dispersed in an epoxy resin binder.
It is processed through chromium hardened grind roller mill for absolute dispersion and color uniformity.
This special processing breaks down pigment agglomerates into individual submicron particles.
Special additives are also added to prevent agglomeration and to increase opacity and color quality.

MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE  is a smooth workable paste that is 100 percent reactive and compatible with thermoset epoxy resin systems.
It will not reduce or alter the gloss property of the epoxy resin or other mechanical properties.
It will not leach or bleed off making it suitable for protective, decorative coatings and casting applications.

MAX COLOR PIGMENT DISPERSION PASTE is an excellent additive to enhance overall UV resistance properties.

Add MAX COLOR PIGMENT DISPERSION PASTE  to the resin component (PART A) and mix until the paste is completely incorporated.

It is highly concentrated so a 3% addition to a clear epoxy system will produce translucent to opaque color density.

This 8-ounce kit will tint up to a gallon of epoxy resin to an opaque color.

It can be blended with other MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE to create any desired colors.

Additions of greater than 5% to the epoxy resin will require adjustment of the curing agent mix ratio.

MAX BLACK COLOR CONCENTRATE

All of our MAX COLOR CONCENTRATE dispersion is processed and milled using a precision 3 roll mill.
This ensures pigment dispersion and particle size reduction of no greater than 2 microns.
1-micron unit is equivalent to 0.039370079 inches or mil.
To put it in simple perspective, a particle measuring 25 microns is 1/16 the size the human eye can detect.

The color featured in this picture is the WHITE COLOR CONCENTRATE, however, all MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE are milled to the same 2-micron particle size. The milled MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE is degassed to remove air bubbles that can affect color opacity. This process also ensures a homogeneous dispersion of the color pigment with the epoxy binder.

All MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE Are Tested For Fineness Of Grind And Uniform Dispersion

Hegman Fineness of Grind Gauge measure the particle size of a pigment particle from 100 to 0 microns.

1 Micron Unit is equivalent to 0.00003970079 inches or mil.
To put it in simple perspective, a particle measuring 25 microns is 1/16 the size the human eye can detect.

  • Warm the resin component or part a and pigment concentrate to 100°F.
  • Pour all of the resin in an appropriate size container.
  • Use a variable speed mixer and an impeller/disperser to uniformly disperse the MAX COLOR CONCENTRATE into the resin or PART A first.
  • Engage the mixer under slow speed using an impeller.
  • For high color opacity, add at least 20% of CALCIUM CARBONATE.
  • Turn the mixer off and add a small amount of max colorant and mix until uniform.
  • To add more colorant, turn off the mixer first and then add the colorant.
  • Mix until a homogenous color consistency is achieved.
  • Allow the mixture to rest for 24 hours to allow any air bubbles to degas.
  • Re-warming the mixture will accelerate degassing.
  • Do not add the curing agent to the warm resin. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
  • Some phase separation may occur if the resin is allowed to sit for more than 24 hours.
  • Adjust the mix ratio based on the amount of calcium carbonate added to the mixture.

Understanding Color Hues,Tints,Shades, And Tones

HUES

These are the purest and brightest colors.
They form the full spectrum of colors which progress around the Primary Color Wheel in gradual increments.
TINTS
A Tint is sometimes called a Pastel. It's simply any color with white added. A color scheme using Tints is soft, youthful and soothing.
Tints would work well in in a girl's room or for a website targeted to women.
SHADES
A Shade is simply any color with black added. Shades are deep, powerful and mysterious.
They work well in a masculine environment and are best used as dark accents.
TONES
A Tone is created by adding both White and Black. Any color that is "grayed down" is considered a Tone.
Tones are somehow more pleasing to the eye.
They are complex, subtle and sophisticated and the best choice for most interior decorating and work well in almost any color scheme.

Reduce the curing agent by weight by 15% if the added weight of calcium carbonate is also 15%. Higher loading of the calcium carbonate, up to 50% by weight can be added but it will significantly increase the viscosity and density as well as extend the cure time.

MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE (any color)

5.0 grams

CALCIUM CARBONATE (optional, for deep opacity)

15.0 grams

PART A Total

100.0 grams

Blend the first three components together until homogeneous and set aside for 2 to 4 hours and allow mixed in air bubbles to outgas. This mixture will not cure since there is curing agent in the mixture

The mix ratio of the MAX CLR is 200:100 or 2:1 based on unfilled state. The mix ratio based on weight only. For example, 80 grams PART A will require 40 grams PART B regardless of the amount of calcium carbonate added to the resin component

MAX CLR Part B Curing Agent

PART B Total

40.0 grams

PART A & PART B Total

140 grams

Adjust the batch size accordingly. The amount of calcium carbonate can be adjusted up to 50% of the resin component.
Make sure to keep the PART A to PART B mix ratio at a constant 2:1.

Adding the MAX PIGMENT PASTE and CALCIUM CARBONATE to the resin component (PART A) will form a more stable mixture.
