This is the most prominent apparel worn by ladies in India and other Middle Eastern countries. It is wrapped, starting at the waist, with a petticoat holding the sari in place, and the end panel, the pallou, goes over the shoulder. The sari has now also found prominence for American decorators, used for curtains, pillows, draped over a couch, etc. We have collected fine textiles for close to 40 years and a have a very large collection of Saris, many of which we have decided to sell in this shop. This one is a very fine quality, exact age unknown, overall good condition, may or may not have ever been worn.  Our collection has been stored well, no aromas, no smoke.  Saris are worn of course, but also collected in India, many times as part of dowry; and Indian ladies often pass their finest ones down to daughters, etc. Our collection came mainly from two ladies born in India who emigrated to the US in the sixties and two other friends who travel extensively  Item SR-0029
