Absolutely stunning and rare example of Jim Karg's work. The original owner said that she purchased this at an "art show". It is signed "Karg 1995".
The piece has been polished on the front and back to create a window effect in the center of the "wavy" sides and top. Inside is a design of blues with a bit of yellow. There is a metallic gleam on part of it, and trails of bubbles inside. From one side it resembles a woman with a hat on to me. From the other it looks like ribbons of blue floating in a current. I believe this is an example of "dichroic" glass. The last two photos were taken from about a 45 degree angle.
I cannot find a chip or even a scratch on it. There's one small area of concern that I inspected with a loupe, and have pictured close up. It appears to be from the manufacturing process....a trail of ash/debris? I believe you'll be able to discern how tiny it is from the size of the "wave".
The largest dimensions of this sculpture are 8" tall and approximately 5 1/2" wide and 4" thick. It weighs 10 lb 14 oz.
