Postal History


EARLY document dated December 5, 1783 from the selectmen of Weatherfield, Windsor County in the state of Vermont!  The document measures about 5.5 inches by 3 3/4 inches/  

"Whereas complaint has been made to us the subscribers that Abia Bemas is not a good and holsom inhabetant these are therefore in the name and by the authority of the freeman of the state of Vermont to require William Upham Constab(le) to warn the sd Abia to depart Emediately out of this town on penalty of the law in that case made and provided."    Signed by Joseph Hubbard and Henry tollese, Select men.  "Pursuant to orders I have warned the within named person to depart out of this town Wm Upham Constanbel Weatherfield December 5, 1783."
