Crocosmia 'Lucifer' (Crocosmia masoniorum x paniculata), Vivid Red Montbretia, Hardy, 15 Seeds, Free UK Postage

This auction is for 15 seeds, home grown organically in the UK of this fully hardy clump forming perennial, an excellent garden selection of a primary hybrid between two hardy species - Crocosmia masoniorum and Crocosmia paniculata, both of which are from Eastern South Africa. Bright red summer/autumn colour!

It is a great plant for adding to prairie type plantings, cottage gardens, rockeries etc. It does well in moist but well drained soils in full sun or part shade and can be placed at the middle of the border, but is quite tolerant of other soil types and moisture. It grows to around 1.5m high and 0.5m across, producing narrow, erect, mid-green, pleated leaves from which emerge flowering spikes with sprays of vivid red blooms, from August to September. Great cut flowers.
