All of our furniture is carefully handmade by our friendly and skilled team at our workshop in Bath. Once we have taken the order for your chosen piece we set to work carefully sawing, planing, gluing, sanding, staining and polishing. After passing our thorough quality control checks we then securely package and ship to you, making sure to keep you updated from start to finish.

Wood:
Here at The Bath Woodwork Company we are firm believers in sustainability and caring for our environment. We use hand tools whenever possible and the electricity supply in our workshop is from a 100% renewable supplier. With this in mind we use the following two types of wood for our tables:

- Scandinavian Pine - Grown in FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) responsibly managed forests, using this high quality wood allows us to produce tables with a very smooth and even surface. The wood features interesting grain patterns and generally has a lower amount of knots and natural imperfections, which give our tables a uniform, sleek and modern look.

- Scaffold Board - If you are after a more vintage style this is where scaffold board comes into its own. We reclaim the boards from a local scaffolding company and hand-select each one from a huge variety. Due to the age and previous life of each board they have many characterful features such as knots, splits, nail holes, saw marks and small dents. During the later stages of the build process we give our scaffold board tables a very smooth finish, but ensure to keep many of the unique and rustic features of the wood present.

Finish:
To seal the wood, provide durability and for a rich colour we use three coats of Fiddes Hard Wax Oil. This is a high quality blend of natural oils & waxes that absorbs into the wood to give a rich colour and to provide a hard wearing and waterproof surface that is food & child safe and will not peel or flake. We then apply a layer of Fiddes Mellow Wax and buff to further enhance the depth of colour and to give a light satin sheen.

Antique, Natural Clear, Rustic Oak and Walnut

Size:
Scandinavian Pine tabletops are on average 4cm thick and Scaffold Board tabletops are on average 3cm thick.

*Please note: Due to the nature of solid timber and items being handmade all sizes are approximate to within a few centimetres.

Custom sizes are available and we also make matching side tables, bedside tables, dining tables, benches, hallway console units, desks and shelves. If you have a specific size in mind send us a message and we'll get right back to you with a quote.

Hairpin Legs:
Our hairpin legs are very strong, sturdy and come with clip-on protector feet to reduce slippage on smooth floors. We offer the following:

Raw Steel: These are un-coated raw steel. They will eventually rust if left untreated, perfect for a more industrial feel or ready for you to finish with your own choice.

Clear Coat: These have all the charm and character of the bare steel but with a protective clear coating that will last a lifetime.

Black: The black powder coat provides a protective layer against rust and gives extra visual contrast to really make the table top stand out.

Assembly:
To minimise the risk of damage in transit we post our tables with the legs unattached. Assembly is very simple, with instructions and all necessary fittings provided. On the underside of each table we mark out the positions of the hairpin legs and pre-drill small holes, so all that is required is a screwdriver and a few minutes of your time.
