The cradle of the Meazzo brand stands in Alessandria, a town in the Piedmont region in Northern Italy.
Here, in the basement of his house at the Piazza Tanaro, Vitalio Meazzo started to set off a business by installing a workshop. That was in 1928.
He became a master artisan in the manufacture, repair and tuning of race, sports and travel bikes. During the second world war, he modified frames and cottered cranks, but failed to have his inventions patented. He also invented two machines for the vulcanizing of tires, born out of the lack of proper new tires due to shortages during the war years.
After the war, the production grew and moved into proper large facilities. It was then, that Giuseppe Meazzo enherited the business from his father. Giuseppe had been a promising amateur cyclist before and had won some important national titles.
Coming from the region of Coppi and Girardengo, he had racing and cycling in his blood and on his mind. Unfortunately he had to retreat from the sport for health reasons. But his love for for fast bikes manifested itself in the beautiful machines which left his manufacture.
