Gemini, Apollo Moonwalker and Shuttle Astronaut John Young
autographed NASA Lithograph!
A
Group 2 Astronaut selection in 1962, John Young was clearly an overachiever
among this overachieving Group of astronauts.
During his long NASA career, John Young would fly two missions in the
Gemini program, Pilot of Gemini 3 with Gus Grissom and the first manned Gemini
flight, and as commander of Gemini 10 with Michael Collins. Young would also be only one of three
astronauts to travel twice to the moon, as Command Module pilot for Apollo 10
and as Commander of Apollo 16. Young
became one of 12 men to have walked on the moon during the Apollo 16
mission. John Young would again be a
pioneer in the space program as he commanded the first shuttle mission, STS-1
and STS-9. He was scheduled to make a
record seventh flight as commander of STS-61-J but the Challenger disaster
delayed that mission. Still, Young’s
achievements were a remarkable record for this Navy veteran. His recent passing leaves only five moonwalkers
alive from that remarkable era of space history.
Item
is an 8 x 10” NASA Lithograph of John
Young displaying the various models or the spacecraft he flew.. Young had a policy of only signing one
autograph request per person. The item
is my copy and obviously the only one I’ll have for sale. Don’t miss this opportunity to own this
unique and rare treasure. He inscribed
the litho “To William Ownbey, Best Wishes, John Young.”
