Up for sale is an 8 1/2" x 11"  1-page typed and signed personal letter from former Secretary of Education Shirley Hufstedler to Director Lee Kimche McGrath(U.S.) and reads in full "Dear Lee, I appreciated your thoughtfulness in presenting me with a lovely, decorative box from the Institute for Museum Services.  I shall conspicuously display it as a fond momento of the pleasant opportunities I had to work with the Institute.  Please convey my thanks to the Institute members, and my every good wish for the continued success of the outstanding work of the organization.  Again, my very fond wishes for a joyous holiday season.  Very sincerely, Shirley M. Hufstedler"

The letter is generally in good condition.   It has some wear and browning due to age.  It has 2 creases from left to right where it was originally folded when mailed.  Some wear around the edges and other small dings.   The top of the letter has a mark from a paper clip.
