Up for sale is a great watercolor and vivid original contemporary primitive paintings by Chinese village artists.  The painting depicts a scene from daily life in the rural areas along the Yangtze River in South China.

The artists live in a commune in Jiangsu Province.  They began painting in their unique naive style in 1976, during the Cultural Revolution, when China's ancient traditions were overturned and conventional artists were required to take up other occupations.  At the same time, a movement to encourage completely untrained peasants and workers to paint was actively push forward.

It features the daily activities of the Chinese agricultural community - A lone fisherman/fishing in a pond.

This piece measures approximately 26 x 21 inches.  It is not matted or framed and has been stored rolled up.

It is in Good Condition.  There are some nicks and tears along the edges.  Some nicks and stains on the piece, as well.  A few wrinkles in the paper and a few small stains.

This terrific watercolor would look great when framed!
