About this item:

Designed for Rega turntables (and many of their variants) this spacer goes on top of the sub platter (hub) and raises the platter by 3mm. They are precision made from high grade clear laser cut acrylic in the UK to our specification and are a brilliant problem solver for when the LP is lower than ideal.

We developed these after finding that the VTA was lower on certain Rega turntables than we preferred - please see the last two pictures as an example, the first picture shows a new Planar 3 with Elys cartridge without the spacer, the second one with it. The arm in the first example is pointing downwards and we find this tends to make the sound somewhat bass heavy and shut in. In the second picture the spacer is fitted, making the arm is closer to parallel (most cartridges are optimal when the arm centre line is approximately parallel with the LP), the result is the sound is much more open, cleaner and better defined throughout the frequency range.

Rega cartridges (and certain others from manufacturers like Denon) are shorter than average, so may require the use of this type of spacer.

After market platters, or listeners using the standard platters without mats may also benefit from the use of this spacer.

Please do note that less of the spindle will protrude above the top of the LP, so it may not be suitable for users that wish to use a clamp which grasps the spindle (although we would add that we rarely find clamps beneficial on these turntables anyway).
