This is a mid 1800s whale oil lamp.  It is inscribed on the top with “C. M. B. 1847”.  There is also a pewter touchmark (see close-up photo) on the bottom with a woman holding a bird in one hand and an anchor in the other hand.  There is also what I believe are the makers initials “CAB.” and 1709 at the base of the mark.  In my research I could not find this mark but did find similar German pewter marks.  The lamp is in good condition for its age and measures 8 ½” tall and is 4 ¼” diameter at the base.  The lamp is being sold in “As Found” condition.   Please email with questions.  Good Luck!!
