us!
1st Film: "Pursue And Destroy".
This show is about a Gato class submarine and her crew somewhere in the Pacific
in 1942. In the early years of the war the submarines were the only part of the
US Navy that did not get destroyed at Pearl harbor and were the primary
instrument to fight the Japanese. This is a TV show Pilot, 1 of 5, that was
produced in 1966 and did not survive, but it was well made. Starring Van
Williams as the Sub Commander, he faced the epic battle of fighting the
Japanese Navy plus, the problems of the early years of the problems of faulty
torpedoes. Without giving away the plot, there is good action with great footage
of the Gato/Baleo Submarine, where our crew gets depth charged, rescue mission,
fights the Ordnance Dept, several patrols, etc. Good acting and well worth
seeing. Vary rare and very few copies are left. It is basically a movie.
Runtime 50:10 Min's
2nd Film: "Submarine Warfare". This film is about
the USN Submarine Fleet in the Pacific War against the Japanese and tells how
the Sub Fleet became known as the "Silent Service". Lots of footage
of our submarines sinking ships, the story of the USS Trigger, and stories of
lifeguard duty, blowing up mines, and sinking everything in sit including
sampans. Well done. Runtime 37:13 Min's
3rd Film: "Sub Newsreels". Here is a collection of
newsreels on US Navy Fleet Boats. 1st, Pig Boats. 2nd, Makin Island Raid. 3rd,
Subs to Turkey. 4th, Submarine Mothball Fleet. Great stuff. Runtime 7:08 min's.
4th Film: "USS Pampanito". This
is a Bonus film by us on the USS Pampanito that is at Fisherman's Warf in San
Francisco. If you have not gone there to see her, It is well worth the trip.
This short story is about the SS-383 and her short history, and we took footage
of inside the ship as well. We hope you enjoy. Runtime 9:11 Min's.
