TREK STARSHIPS COLLECTION: XL/JUMBO USS DEFIANT MODEL. FIX FOR THE USS DEFIANT
& TOTAL CONVERSION DECAL SETS TO THE USS SAO PAULO OR USS VALIANT!
MODEL NOT INCLUDED - DECALS ONLY
Decal removal instructions will be included, as well as instructions on
painting over the old registries with paint! I have not attempted decal removal
with nail varnish removers with this model, instead using paint to cover the
old registries. You can try the nail varnish remover method if you like, as you
can safely paint over the area if it does not take!
If you wish to use the paint method instead of the decal removal method
you will need the following 2 Vallejo paints:
70.905 Blue Grey Pale
70.989 Sky Grey
These two paints are mixed to a ratio of 3:1 – 3(70.989):1(70.905) for
the main hull & 1:1 for the darker blue panels!
Both of my models were covered using this method! (SEE PHOTOS!)
For a clean look masking tape is very important, mask off a square
around the old hull parking, paint the over the old marking inside the masking
tape. When the paint has dried remove the masking tape!
A scalpel with a new blade is also required for the bussard collector
stripes – this is because they are only 1mm wide, an old blade will rip the
decal paper.
The decals have been sealed with plasti-kote clear acrylic spray to protect
them against scratches etc...
The decals look great, are very sharp and really finish off the model making it
look fantastic! If you have 2 or more Defiants, this is a great way to expand
your fleet!
You will receive the decals ready to apply, all you will need is a hobby knife
to cut out the decals and a bowl of water to dip the decals in for 10 seconds
before applying to the model. If you have access to Microsol and Microset or
another decal adhesive you may get slightly better results, giving the decals a
more painted on look. Giving the model a few coats of matt or gloss spray (Do
NOT use Tamiya or Revell lacquers! – Vallejo lacquers give a great result) will
also help adhere the decals to the model and protect both.
FULL INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE INCLUDED.
Once again, this is for DECALS ONLY
The model of the DEFIANT IS NOT INCLUDED.
