The stock adapter is made of plastic and can easily strip in application, come loose over time or even burst due to increased pressures from rebuilding or modification. We recommend replacing the factory plastic adapter when purchasing a new or used truck regardless of the mileage. The steel adapter can be used repeatedly during servicing.
