True vintage B&L Bausch & Lomb Ray Ban Powderhorn sunglasses circa the 1960s. New old stock NOS. Unworn, but with a tighter fit due to slight curve of temples and tighter hinges. Please read full description below.

Includes soft side vintage B&L Ray Ban vinyl slip case with velvet textured lining and gold “Ray-Ban AmberMatic All-Weather Sunglasses” written in gold font. Also includes rare single sided original literature and directions on how the lens works and how to get maximum efficiency out of them.

Ambermatic DGM double gradient mirror 100% UV protection (at minimum) lenses are free of scratches. Inside of lenses has a full gold tinged mirror-like coating. They are self adjusting lenses that change color to control the light. They are amber indoors and on hazy days, brow on sunny warm days, and gray on sunny cold days for added protection against glare from snow and ice. These are pre-BL etching and non-prescription ready to wear.

Thick acetate multi-color frames. Dark blue almost navy on the outside face and temples. Contrasting white center and tan innermost layer.

Temples have raised metal Ray Ban logo. Hinges and screws are original. Left temple inscribed POWDERHORN. Right Temple inscribed B&L RAY-BAN U.S.A.

Approximate measurements: 140mm temples, 5 1/8” temple to temple (hinge to hinge), 5 1/2” measured horizontally across frame, 2 1/8” vertical length of frame. Lenses 2 3/8” wide measured at largest distance and 2” high.

Condition Note: The hinges and side metal logos are tarnished and could use some more polishing or lubrication. I have WD-40 sprayed these and they move fine. Because of the tighter hinges, the temples are more curved and give a tighter more secure fit. As a female, this is actually ideal for me, as without these factors, they would fall right off my little face/head! If this is going to bother you, please do not bid.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT ALL LISTINGS IN MY STORE:

If you are not familiar with vintage 1940s-1960s B&L Ray Bans please do your research and do not purchase if you do not understand or appreciate the difference between B&L and Luxottica Ray Bans. BL etching on lenses started in the late 1970s. It can be located on the top center of the lens or sideways on the outside of the lens facing inward. There is no difference in etched vs. non-etched lenses other than when they were made. The presence or lack of etching does not prove or refute authenticity!

All of my listings are authentic new old stock, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be some variation between pairs of the exact same model especially in models with a metal frame like aviators. They have been in storage for 50-70 years! I note any major issues. I do not accept returns.

Hairline scratches from cleaning and storage is always possible and is more prevalent in glass lenses with mirrored finishes and acetate plastic black frame. Screws and hinges are always authentic vintage, but have likely required tightening and may not be perfect. If you want close up photos of any part of the glasses please ask. I always recommend that you take them to an optician, optometrist, or sunglasses shop for a custom fitting. Nose pads, temples, and hinges can be adjusted for a personalized fit. We’re all different!

Unless otherwise stated, I provide the best softside case I have available as my gift to you. I reserve the right to change the soft case from the one pictured in the photos to one of my choosing. Hard cases may be available for purchase at an additional fee and I recommend that you keep them in a hard case. Please inquire if interested. I do not sell or provide lens wipes.

I ship out quickly and reserve the right to change USPS delivery service used. Sometimes this means I will ship via first class instead of priority, especially if I need to ship out in a larger, more protected box, or if the estimated number of delivery days is the same. Again, I cover shipping fees as a service to you. If you absolutely need your sunglasses by a certain date please message me before purchasing or bidding to ensure I can accommodate this.

I would appreciate if you would let me know if you plan on purchasing multiple pair within a 1 day time period so that I may ship them together. I put a lot of effort into wrapping and boxing them safely. I do not ship on weekends or most Mondays unless you specifically let me know you need your sunglasses urgently.
