........A toy dreamscape, a little village of tiny people going about their lives in the surreal land of  Lenormand......Très Petite Lenormand is a French style Lenormand fortunetelling deck.  Mme Lenormand was the card reader for Josephine, the wife of Napoleon, and she read the cards of many of the crowned heads of Europe. Lenormand cards are smaller format, with fewer cards in the deck than the Tarot. They are also more pragmatic and factual, more immediate, forecasting daily events and the dynamics of relationships in practical ways. The cards are placed in lines of 3 or 5, or in long strings or squares, and the meanings combine as you go down the rows. Or, you may design your own interesting patterns for layouts. Tres Petite Lenormand is set in the sunny south of France, on a little island just off the coast. The Time is 1953. The village has a library, and churches, schools and towers, homes and farms, beaches, and mountains with cloudy heights. Each scene is a little part of the island, unfolding before you. L' ile de Lenormand, the Island of Lenormand, is full of life, dreams and ambitions. The deck was shot at Esther's Hobby Shop, Millvale, PA. by the author, over the course of a week. The scenes utilized miniature train displays, and I staged the scenes for the actions that best described the meaning of each card, setting little people in place, moving props, arranging backgrounds. These were little people, inhabiting small format cards. The train display floated in the room on a long table, so it was easy to think of it as an island. That is how the Island of Lenormand and the deck's style was "discovered." The photographs were used to create a deck reminiscent of antique children's picture books, vintage illustrations, collectible sticker books, toys and miniatures. Most everyone knows everyone else in Lenormand, and if you might be invited in for tea by the librarian and her nephew, please notice the kitchen tablecloth...(its the print used on the back of the cards.) It's easy to find the island, but once there, you might need a map. I designed a small fold out book, a Guide to L'ile de Lenormand, it opens like book, and gives card meanings and some simple instructions on it's pages, and, when fully opened, a bird's eye view of the island on the other side, with all the areas of special interest shown. The 36 card deck (with one additional title card) is full color, no borders,  rounded corners, 2.5" x 4", and is printed on standard gauge card stock with a professionally crafted silky, satin finish. No plastic coatings. The deck and map arrive in a slim, sturdy clear plastic card box, for storage and presentation.  Tres Petite Lenormand © 2015 PattyGallagher
