This DVD is about the Famous USS Hornet CV-8 and the CV-12! This DVD is a collection of films on both carriers. We really enjoyed these historical films and we hope you will too. 1st Film; "Life and Death of Hornet". A Navy film on the short heroic life of the USS Hornet CV-8. Runtime 16:17 Min's

1st Film: "371 Days of Glory". This is a short story of the USS Hornets amazing of 371 days of Glory. From the day she was commissioned to the major battles that changed history , to her end 371 day later at the battle of Santa Cruz where she came to an end. The USS Hornet CV-8 served her country with such amazement in America time of need. Runtime 12:01 Min's.

2nd Film: "Doolittle Raid" . This a great documentary story on the Doolittle raid from the deck of the USS Hornet CV-8. The US was desperate of any good war news and the success of the Doolittle did just that for America. In April of 1942, just 5 months after Pearl Harbor Attack, Doolittle and his 16 B-25's, launched from the deck of the USS Hornet took off and bombed Japan. It did little damage to Japan, but it shocked the Japanese people because the Military said Japan could never be attack!! OOPS. an amazing story and Heroes. Runtime 9:29 Min's

3rd Film: "Midway is East". This is another film from the award winning TV series called "Victory at Sea" This is about the battle of Midway. The battle that turned the tide against the mighty Japanese Imperial Navy. Prior to that battle, the Japanese had Victory Fever and should have won this battle because the naval size difference, but a few twists of fate changed the course of history and the USN won a major victory over Japan. The USS Hornet was one of the 3 carriers that fought in that battle. Runtime 26:26 Min's

4th Film: "Hornet's Lost Squadron 8". This a Memorial film for Torpedo Squadron 8 from the USS Hornet that was lost in the Battle of Midway. Flying the obsolete Douglas TBD Torpedo Bomber, all were shot down without a single torpedo hit and only Ensign George Gay survived that day. Amazing story of very Brave men! Runtime 7:39 Min's

5th Film: "CV-12 Newsreels". This is a series of newsreels on the CV-12. 1st newsreel: "New 'Shangri-La' Honors Historic Raid on Tokyo; 2nd newsreel: "Air and Sea Battles Mark War In Pacific"; 3rd newsreel "Sea Battle Of The Philippines"; 4th newsreel: "Third Fleet Shells Japan." 6th Film: "The Fleet Came To Stay". This is a Navy film about the how the Navy came back to stay against the Japanese Navy. Mostly about Fast carriers and their task forces, they fought the Japanese to the bitter end. Runtime 19:15 Min's

7th Film: "The Eagle Has Landed". Apollo 11 was the 1st space flight that landed men on the moon. This that story and with the USS Hornet retrieving the from the sea after there return!! Great story! Runtime 20:21 Min's
