The George Butler cutlery business operated from the 17th century and the hand-forged knives made at their Eyre Street workshops gained an impressive reputation around the world.
This 19th century example of a curved jack knife has dark rosewood scales. It is built on three steel liners and measures 3 5/8 inches in the closed position. There is a spearpoint blade and a pen blade. Both blades are tang stamped with the ‘key’ trademark and “G. Butler & Co”.
Both blades are well sprung with very good snaps and the knife is in excellent condition.
