Carved from sustainable bamboo root and acacia wood, 'uncle duck' looks dapper as he ventures forth in a top hat and boots. His boots are laced with banana fiber rope. Supriyanto in java creates the whimsical bird, giving it a natural finish to highlight the beautiful grain. Ducks play a vital role in the ecology of wet-rice agriculture in java as in bali. The ducks are herded into the fields well prior to harvest time to eat algae and insect pests. as well as fertilize the fields with their droppings. It's important to keep them away from ripening fields though, so that they do not eat the rice itself. Thanks for looking. Nr.
