Original etching was executed in the 1600's. This late impression after the original is well more than 130 years old. Published circa 1880. This auction has been started at a minimum price. You will not find this same etching anywhere else for anything close to the starting bid. We have found these same etchings (although many that we found were modern day reprints and not prints from the 1800's like we are selling - Most of the modern versions are on a heavy cream colored wove paper and although the quality is nice, the plates have been reworked to the point that the image has lost the "look and feel" of the original Rembrandt etching) on gallery websites for very high asking prices.
