Shortly after the 1915 Haitian Campaign an insurrection erupted in Santo Domingo. These guys form the back of the 4th Marine Brigade in France during World War I.

Many of the units that served in Haiti were sent over to the Dominican Republic.

Sample details of one of the notes: Note #11-5 a Arrived at the Dominican Republic while embarked on the USS Culgoa. Dis-embarked at Fort Geronimo, Domincian Republic on the 12th of May, and re-embarked on the USS Culgoa on the 14th and sailed for Santo Domingo. While landing at Fort Geronimo the Marines used “small boats”, and landed through the surf on the beach nearest to the Fort. At this point the Marines attacked the fort, and after not meeting resistance occupied it. On the 15th the Marines re-embarked on the USS Culgoa, and arrived and dis-embarked at Santo Domingo on the 15th. At this point the 5th Company participated in the occupation of Santo Domingo.
