This is a mid 19th century Staffordshire classically shaped pitcher decorated with the pattern “Acorn” in dark blue transfer and polychrome highlights.  A high lustre glaze has been applied to the entire piece lending a porcelain like appearance.  The pitcher measures approximately 4 3/4” in diameter by 8 3/8” to the top of the spout.  Both sides feature a center medallion encircled by a wreath of oak leaves and acorns.  The oak leaf and acorn motif is repeated at the top of the pitcher  as well as on the handle.  The transfer applied to the handle is blurred beneath the glaze.  No discernible chips or cracks.  Clean inside.  A handsome piece in very good condition for its age.
