Southeastern Europe, likely Hallstatt, ca. 8th to 7th century BCE. A bronze spiral spectacle fibula with hook and catch plate for pin attached to the centers of the spirals' versos. Spiral brooches/cloak pins were a popular Europe-wide fashion and have been found in graves as emblems of status and wealth. Size: 4.75" W (12.1 cm); each spiral measures ~ 2.375" in diameter (6 cm)
