From Pedro Durán S.A., Madrid, Spain, makers of fine silver, silver and nickel plated gifts, decorations and serving ware comes this lovely photo frame suitable for any home.

Alpadur no se mancha translates directly as Alpadur not stain.

I was not able to find it on their website so I assume the pattern is no longer sold new.  I bought several cases at a charity event and had no idea what they were other than picture frames!  I was told they came from a store that has closed.  All the papers I found with them were dated 2003 or older.  The only surviving shipping container has "25 Vascos Redonado Dali 25cms" written in cursive on the top.  This translates as "Reduced Basques Dali".  I don't know whether the writer was referring to price or size.

The material seems to be silver plate.  I used a magnet to test the frame and it was non-ferrous. The back of the frame and stand are faux wood.  There is a blue velvet backing for the picture. This unit is sturdy and weighs 1lb, 5oz on my postal scale.  Listed at 25cms or about 7-1/2 inches inside and about 10 inches as the outside dimension.

Further research showed that the maker applied for a US trademark in 1988 under the Alpadur name but never followed through.  This makes AlpaDur somewhat rare for the North American market but I was able to find similar pieces for sale in Spain selling as used for 15 euros for two slightly smaller 20cm frames that are nearly identical to this one.  This equates to $17.92 US dollars or $8.96 each based on the current market of 9/17/2017.

I picked up some mirrors of the same make and style at the same event.

The pieces are all new.  If you want one with the original packaging contact me when you order but understand this is all strictly as-is.  The frames have been in storage and despite the claim not to stain there are some small marks on some of them.  Some shifting of the glass and backing may occur in shipping.

To use I recommend removing the glass and place it over your photo on a cutting board or heavy cardboard.  Use a craft knife or razor to cut the picture to size with the glass as your template.  It will be a little difficult getting it all back together but the result is worth the effort.  The glass and velvet are removed from the top of the frame.
