This listing offers a tan toned circulated example of 1831 Capped Bust quarter dollar, designated Very Fine Details - Rim Damaged.
The seller is not in agreement with the added verbiage of the details - there is no conspicuous evidence of rim damage that should preclude this coin from a straight grade.  For accuracy, we have noted that this coin is a Browning 2 variety - there are 4 Browning die pairs of the Small Letters Reverse.  From PCGS' Coinfacts: "1831 was the year of transition to the new close collar reduced diameter (24mm versus 28mm) quarter coinage. In order to get the best striking results from his design, William Kneass tried two different letter sizes for the reverse die. The Small Letter reverse can be distinguished not only by their smaller size, as they are about as WIDE as they are TALL."
Several large images are provided in order to portray this coin as accurately as possible.
Use the images above and below as a general guide.
