For sale is an unusual caster, apparently Swiss silverplate over pewter. It stands about 5 1/2" tall and is fairly heavy. It has a classic caster shape, with a screw-off top. It has not been engraved. It is stamped on the bottom with a mark of an angel blowing a horn, which I believe is a 19th C Swiss pewterer's mark. It has the look of very old silver, but there is just enough wear to convince me that is indeed silverplate. The threads on the lid are worn, though, and those parts appear to be solid metal. I'm really not sure what it is, to tell the truth!

The caster is in fair condition. The lid does screw on, but the threads slip under pressure. There are a couple of pin prick holes in the body, and the usual wear. A very unusual item, with the look of great age!
