About Designer

An exceptional and rare Thea Porter Couture evening coat from the 1965-1970s. The coat features a beautiful velvet silk fabric. The Met museum has an identical  one in  their collection ( accession number : 1974.384.20 ) or go to www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/97108

Thea Porter was largely inspired by antique caftans, as well as fashion from the Victorian and Renaissance eras, and her creations are easily identifiable by intricately decorated, hand painted, and layered fabric. Her clothing attracted many celebrity customers such as Elizabeth Taylor who enjoyed wearing her erotic, yet comfortable, creations whose secret was to conceal rather than reveal.

Waist width on second bottom button 16" 1/2
