This is a 1958 5F8 Tweed Twin chassis. Serial #A00053

Obviously, its pretty rough, but it works, and it screams.

When I got it (chassis only), it had been neglected for years and was a mess. It needed a full cap job, new 3 prong cable, fuse holder, a few of the pots replaced, 1 input jack, the rectifier socket, and little bit of wiring cleanup work.

After all that, and installing a full new set of Tung Sol tubes, she fired right up. The transformers and all the Astrons and components on the board are original.

This was originally the 5F8 circuit that had the weird 4 pin rectifier. Sometime before I got it, that socket was poorly replaced and some of the heater wiring was poorly redone for some reason. The big difference in the 5F8 and the 5F8-A, other than the rectifier tube, is the wiring around the output tube sockets. All of the resistors around the output tubes were crumbling and would have to be redone anyway, so I made the decision to go with the 5F8-A circuit and installed a regular tube socket and GZ34, and redid the wiring around the output tubes. I think that was the way to go.

The chassis is badly pitted and in rough shape, but it is a working high power twin with original transformers and no holes in the chassis.

The pictures will tell you the story about what has been replaced. If it looks new, it is...if it looks old, it is!!

The cabinet is a high quality aftermarket and has a set of Weber 12F150's to complete the package.

All of the original parts that I have are pictured and included.

Thanks a lot,

Johnny
