Description

I have this spectacular Rodney Leftwich Pottery Cameo-style Vase that also has the Pisgah Forest marking for your pleasure! You get two greats in one piece of pottery! Rodney Leftwich is a well-known North Carolina Potter. He began his Pottery work in the 1970’s. From 1995 to 1998 he worked at Pisgah Forest Pottery. Rodney has a special love for Pisgah Forest Pottery which he considers a historical treasure. This great vase has the cameo effect which is done by putting layer after layer until he achieved the right cameo effect. All of Rodney’s cameo pieces are one of a kind works of art. This vase has the blue matte glaze with the great white cameo trees and birds and a black matte bottom. It is simply magnificent! It is signed, Leftwich 2010 along with the Pisgah Forest's Potter at his wheel marking on the bottom. Rodney’s glazes are prepared from wood ashes, clay slips, crushed glass and iron rock as was done locally in the 1800s. His use of these natural materials results in creations with war earth tones. This vase was purchased directly from Rodney Leftwich. This vase measures approximately 10 ¾” tall x 4 ½” wide. It is in Mint, mint condition! It is signed Leftwich, 2010, Pisgah Forest. What a great piece to add to your collection!
