1872 antique color lithographed map titled Map of the World Showing the
Distribution of the Principal Useful Metals and Minerals.
- It was compiled by the Swiss geographer and Princeton professor Arnold
Henry Guyot and published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York in
Guyot's Physical Geography.
- The image area measures 21 x 27.6 cm [8¼" x 10¾"], including the two
lower panels that show the coal fields and the gold and silver regions of
the United States.
- The world map is drawn on the Mercator projection and uses a legend key to
locate sources of gold, silver, platinum, copper, iron, zinc, lead, tin, diamond, mercury, and
coal.
- Condition: This map is in excellent
condition,
bright and clean,
with no marks,
rips, or
