  • It was compiled by the Swiss geographer and Princeton professor Arnold Henry Guyot and published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York in Guyot's Physical Geography.


  • The image area measures 21 x 27.6 cm [8¼" x 10¾"], including the two lower panels that show the coal fields and the gold and silver regions of the United States.


  • The world map is drawn on the Mercator projection and uses a legend key to locate sources of gold, silver, platinum, copper, iron, zinc, lead, tin, diamond, mercury, and coal.
