About Sublimation Inks

Sublimation Ink is a specialised product used for printing images onto garments or sublimation treated products (i.e. mugs).  Once an image is printed onto 'sublimation paper' the image is transfered using a heat press.

The application of heat and pressure causes the dyes in the image to convert to a gas.  The heat applied to the object being printed causes the 'pores' of the object to open.  Rapid removal of the heat causes these 'pores' to close and the gas (now trapped in the 'pores') converts back to a solid, leaving the coloured image.

These sublimation inks are suitable for use in any Epson Inkjet or Brother inkjet printer as they use an elecronic print head system (Piezo).  They are not suitable for use in HP or Canon printers,  which use a  thermal style head that can cause the ink to sublimate within the head.

The printed output will appear dull compared to printing using 'normal' printing inks, this is normal with sublimation prints.  It goes without saying but sublimation inks are not suitable or used for 'everyday' printing and typically the printer is used soley for use with sublimation inks.

All sublimation inks are profiled for use in Epson and Brother printers, however almost every series of Epson and Brother printers (hence cartridges)  have slightly different physical colours.  So for example the BK, C, M and Y colours are physically different from one printer series to the next.  This means you never have 100% colour accuracy using any sublimation inks. As a generalisation the inks are very close but some users choose to create their own ICC profiles or 'tweak' the colour output in the printer colour settings

The printed output must be transferred hot using a heat press at a temperature 220-240 degrees celcius for optimum transfer efficiency.  Please ensure you test the fabric first at these temperatures to ensure your fabric can tolerate these temperatures.  Using lower temperatures will reduce the print transfer effeciency.  Time and temperature will vary depending on type and nature of material which transfer is applied.  When used to print on fabric, sublimation inks will only work on synthetic materials (must be less than 10% cotton) unless you are printing onto a transfer syle specialist paper. When using rihac Neon Fluro Sublimation Inks the more yellow and magenta colours used in your print design the more flourescent colour will bepresent in the sublimated item

Rihac is a Melbourne based company and the world leader in continuous inking products. For the better part of a decade we have been engineering and developing ink supply units known as the Inklink or CISS for the majority of brand named printers such as Canon, Epson, Brother and Epson

From humble beginnings back in 2002 we created the first Inklink CISS unit based on a gravity flow system created in the USA. Rather than using a gravity based system, Rihac developed a purpose designed and self-contained ink reservoir. This reservoir was engineered with special ‘air balanced tubes' to balance the pressure regardless of the ink level and act like a normal ink cartridge. We made the system endlessly refillable and set about using the best quality inks we could source. Since then, Rihac have established themselves as the world leaders in ink supply systems and produce products for more printers than any other similar products in the world.

With ink base products supplied from Both Cabot's (USA) and Diamond (UK) we make 100% sure that our products will never damage your print heads and will match the OEM colours. Our dye based inks are micro filtered and have a special UV absorber to maximise print life beyond generic inks. Our inks were even reviewed by choice magazine who rated them as the only aftermarket inks tested that matched original cartridge colours.

Rihac products have been the subject of many other reviews (available online) and products awards, including being a finalist for the 2011 Women's Weekly product of the year and 2012 Telstra Business Awards People's Choice Winners and MYOB small business awards Victorian Finalist. In 2017 rihac were winners of the world brand awards for product excellence.  Testament to the quality and product support is the numerous online comments and customer reviews available on our website, Ebay and online.
