This media is ideal for printing photo quality, water-resistant stickers, decals and labels using home inkjet printers. It is available in three different finishes, Pearl, Gloss and Matte. The Gloss and Matte vinyl have a higher degree of whiteness than our pearl finish vinyl, though the pearl vinyl has a higher gloss level of 75GU. Due to the production process, using a clear film backing (instead of paper backing) allows us to produce a higher gloss finish. When measured using a gloss meter, the clear film backed glossy vinyl has a gloss level of 65GU (gloss units) which is considered a medium to high gloss finish, where the glossy vinyl with the paper backing has a lower gloss level of 59GU. The pearl finish has a gloss level of 75GU and the printed finish is difficult to show in photographs and appears more 'underneath' the gloss finish and is best described as subtly iridescent.
The media is made from a PP vinyl film and not PVC like other products. PVC contains around 30% by weight of Chlorine and produces toxic fumes if incinerated. PP on the other hand will generate only carbon dioxide and water, making it significantly more environmentally friendly when being manufactured and in disposal. This product is not suitable for laser printers.
Home inkjet printer inks are around 80% water and dilute when exposed to water but once printed with dye based inkjet inks the media does entrap the inks and become water resistant, in that the images will not run when exposed to moisture, but they are not to be considered waterproof. When printing with pigment inks the print is less durable (as you would expect with photo papers etc) due to the nature of pigment inks laying on the surface and not absorbing into the media. Some printers (select Epson Ecotank, Canon and HP printers) use a combination of a pigment black ink and dye based colour inks. Generally these printers print the pigment Black as the top layer and can be less durable (more likely to scratch or bleed) than printers using dye inks for all colours

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
We strongly recommend buying a 5pce sample pack before making a larger purchase to test the product in your printer. The Gloss and Matte products have a choice of a clear film or plain paper backing sheet. It is important to note that some printers (generally the lower end home printers) can struggle to feed the clear backed product correctly. Also, if you are using a cricut style machine to cut out your stickers (or having trouble with print feed) we strongly recommend the paper backed product options. Some cricut machines can have difficulty with the product slipping while cutting and/or not adhering to the backboard when using the clear film backed products.
This product is not designed for commercial or outdoor use. This is a hobby product and is designed for home use. Home inkjet printers typically use dye based inks which tend to fade quickly when exposed to direct sun or high amounts of UV light. Whilst it is not recommended some buyers do use it for commercial purposes by coating the sticker with an overlaminate or protective liquid to prolong fade life and enhance durability. This product is suitable for inkjet printers only and not suitable for laser printers.
