Dartington Glass Frank Thrower Design for 1972 Munich Olympics
This is one of a series of limited edition tankards, made by Dartington Crystal.
The tankard is moulded in 24% lead crystal, with a ‘medallion’ which bears the words ‘Munich 1972’ and has a naked discus thrower with the stylised Olympic Ring logo.
The broad base has a central polished out pontil, and is etched with ‘No 185 1972’.
I believe that this range was designed by Frank Thrower.
The tankard is approximately 12.0cm in height, with a diameter at the rim of about 7.3cm, and across the base of about 10.0cm. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
