Beautifully repurposed 1820's Austrian Biedermeier armoire with key. Elegant form, with the restrained, simple design features typical of earlier pieces. Dramatically figured walnut veneers on the front and sides create the primary visual interest. Two doors make up most of the front. These are flanked by a pair of inset tapered columns topped with ebonized, carved and gilded Egyptian-style female busts. Simple, tapered block feet. These may have been restored and re-gilded, if so, they are convincingly original looking. The warm gold is slightly patinaed, and shows bits of the rouge base underneath.

The interior has been retrofitted to accommodate a television (flat screen) and other entertainment components. The interior space is designed in such a way that it provides for effective storage, and includes several removable shelves and two drawers.  The doors lift off for easier transport. The door escutcheons appear to be original, and around round, topped by birds flanking a crown form. Comes with a single key.

Excellent antique condition. Structurally perfect - the piece is strong and heavy. The new inside structure adds weight and rigidity. The finish is excellent throughout. Old repairs and patches to the veneer, professionally done, primarily along the doors' edges and cabinet skirt and bottom edge. Heavy piece - the doors are removable, but this is not a "break down" armoire. Please carefully review the measurements if you need to take it up or down a staircase or into a tight spot.
