Paul Gilles

A wonderful pair of French art deco lamps by Paul Gilles in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. Made around 1925-1930. Gilles was a French designer with a factory and lighting shop at 27 rue Esquirol in Paris. The shade of this lamp was produced for Gilles by Degué the famous glass factory of David Guéron.
The nice bases are very detailed executed and retake the rose design of the bowls. Done in molded-pressed glass both shades are signed Gilles. The height of the lamps is 36,7 cm (14-1/2 inches) and the bowls are 20,6 cm wide (8,1 inches). The pair is in excellent condition.  The bases have been re-nickeled and patinated. The lamps are rewired with new twisted rayon covered cord, new plugs and switches. They are equipped with American candelabra base sockets and 2-prong plugs for the US Canada or Japan. For European countries I will place E14 sockets.
