Supermicro Out of Band (OOB) is an essential license key for your Supermicro system. This low cost key makes life easier by being able to control your BIOS and BMC/IPMI on your X9, X10, and X11 generation motherboard/systems remotely. User can easily update BIOS and BMC/IPMI settings from a human-readable text file, and use this utility to update the target machine’s system BIOS and BMC/IPMI configuration. More options and capability can be done with Redfish APIs.
With the Out of Band license key enabled (remote access), maintaining your system is so much more convenient now as users can generate event logs, TPM provisioning, mount/unmounts ISO images, remote screenshot capture, remote keyboard operations, syslog, and so much more.
The following motherboards will NOT be able to flash BIOS using OOB functionality:
X11SAE-F, X11SAT-F, X11SCA-F, X11SRA-F, X11SRA-RF, X11SRM-F, X11SRM-VF, Any X8 or earlier systems.
**Regarding X12 or X13: License
generation is not possible or needed for X12/X13 boards. They come with OOB
license enabled from Supermicro or your VAR if you have a complete
system. X12 Barebones systems or X12 boards by themselves do not come with licenses
and you must contact your seller to and support to get a license. You will be refunded if your board is X12 or X13 or uses file-based activation (refer to 7th image in listing).**
