The nylon bush on the end of the selector cable wears over time and simply pops off. The nylon material is very soft; as it operates on a metal ball joint it wears prematurely causing this fault. The vehicle manufacturer?s solution to this issue is to replace the gear selector cable (at a great cost), this however will wear in the same way as the original and the issue will reoccur. Some customers have advised us of some replacement cables only lasting 3 months before popping off again.
