Dresden Carl Thieme Footed and Raised Compote

  • This is a beautiful, reticulated porcelain compote with two standing figures on the base
  • Impressive at 11 1/2" tall, this compote is made of two pieces bolted together at the base of the top bowl.  The fact that the bowl is bolted onto the base makes this an early piece.
  • The compote is decorated with flowers and leaves and gold embellished trim
  • The two figures at the base of the compote stand are a man playing a flute and a woman with a book
  • Hand Painted and decorated in that famous Rococo style of Dresden porcelain
  • The bowl is a slight oval shape and measures 9 5/8" X 8 5/8"
  • The reticulated bowl is painted with flower sprays and leaves
  • This is a very special piece that will brighten up any room or table
  • It was made by Carl Thieme at the Sächsische Porzellanmanufaktur of Dresden, Germany
  • The quality is spectacular and of the finest tradition of Dresden
  • This Dresden mark was used in the early 1900's starting in 1902 to about 1914
  • Excellent condition for an antique porcelain.  The bowl is intact with one tiny flaw - a tiny black spot.  The applied flowers and leaves have minor losses as is consistent with age.  The figurines are intact with no losses or flaws.  There are no cracks, no chips, no glazing, except as I have indicated for the applied flowers and leaves.   The applied flowers and leaves on the lowers section appear to have little or no loss.
